Blog Tour

What's the craziest thing you've done for a story or book?

Paula Offutt (Butch Girls Can Fix Anything) - Submit one to a publisher.

Jane Vollbrecht (Close Enough) - I’ve lived fifty-plus years and collected a ragbag of memories --- and I believe that any one of them can become the kernel for a new book. As Willie Nelson wrote and Patsy Cline sang, we’re crazy. . . for trying, for crying, for loving (in this case, for loving words). . . crazy for all sorts of reasons, not the least of which is having an abiding affair with words and spending endless hours massaging them into sentences, paragraphs, chapters, and books. I think many (most?) people outside the wacky world of writing think we’re all a tetch off our rockers to do what we do.

Renee Bess (Breaking Jaie) - I suppose I'd have to say turning down an offer to continue my part time job supervising student teachers for Arcadia University so that I can write full-time this fall. I'm taking that last step away from the world of public education, and that's a little scary for me.

What's next? Any works in progress that you'd like to share?

Paula Offutt (Butch Girls Can Fix Anything) - Like I've said, I have the other BG books, all romance. And I've got The Blessed, The Graced, and The Divine, a fantasy trilogy. And I've got Centric, a science fiction.

Jane Vollbrecht (Close Enough) - My next novel, Second Verse, is due out in January 2008. It’s the story of a woman who learns that love trumps everything --- even life-changing illness.
I’m also about 40,000 words into a new novel (working title is Detours) which is about a lesbian couple who have a special needs child. I have some very dear friends who have a son with severe cerebral palsy and seizure disorder. They have been unfailingly responsive in helping me with my research. Robert Frost said, “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader.” If he was right, given the tears I’ve shed in writing it, I think this book will elicit some dewy eyes for its readers.

Renee Bess (Breaking Jaie) - My next book, RE:Building Sasha is under contract. I expect it to be published by December, 2008. And currently I'm incubating some characters and a theme and plot for another book.
